Slovenia’s Krka tests its preparedness to respond to emergencies

PublishedOctober 13, 2026

A few days ago, sirens sounded at Krka’s main production site, signalling the start of the company’s largest-ever fire drill as part of its civil protection and disaster response activities.

Together with firefighting and rescue teams, other emergency response professionals and employees, company tested its readiness to respond to an industrial emergency through a simulated incident at the modern Notol 2 solid dosage form manufacturing facility.

Such exercises are an important part of company’s commitment to ensuring a high level of safety for its employees, the local community and the environment, while supporting responsible and sustainable business practices.

The particular value of these exercises lies in testing the coordinated response of the various teams and organisations that would work together to protect people, property and the environment in the event of a real emergency.

Following the exercise, Jože Malnarič, Commander of the Krka Industrial Fire Brigade, emphasised: “Today’s exercise demonstrated the importance of well-prepared procedures, trained personnel and effective cooperation between all emergency services. Through such training, we test our readiness for situations that may arise unexpectedly in our daily operations, while reinforcing the knowledge and skills needed to respond swiftly, effectively, safely and in a coordinated manner. Continuous training is one of the key ways we maintain a high level of preparedness, even in challenging situations.”
