From space to the hospital

PublishedAugust 28, 2026

VU Life Sciences Center together with VUL Santaros klinikos are launching a project focused on diagnostics of critical conditions of inflammatory origin, where faster clinical information can make a real difference for patients.

The project will bring technology developed by SensoLife.lt, with support from the European Space Agency – ESA through the BactiCard project, into a clinical research – combining our biosensor expertise with the clinical ICU experience of Santaros Clinics’ doctors.

From biosensor development for space applications to the patient bedside at the hospital – this is exactly the kind of translation that we are excited to bring to the world, says project team.

The collaboration is brought together by Dalius Ratautas and Marius Dagys from VU Life Sciences Center, and Vaidas Vicka and Dalia Gineitytė Ozolinčė from Santaros Clinics, with strong research, engineering, and clinical teams behind them.
