Vinnova has launched the Advanced Life Science programme, a new strategic research and innovation initiative designed to help Sweden keep pace with the rapid global development of the life sciences.
Through the programme, industry, academia and research institutes will collaborate to create better conditions for the development, testing and commercialisation of new solutions.
The initiative aims to foster innovation, strengthen Sweden’s international appeal, boost competitiveness and improve resilience, thereby reinforcing the country’s position in the global life sciences sector.
Through broad collaboration between the business sector, academia and research institutes, the programme aims to create better conditions for the development, testing and commercialisation of new solutions.
The programme is a long-term initiative that will help accelerate the development and scale-up of promising research results and technological breakthroughs, bringing their benefits to patients and society. Currently, the government’s mandate covers funding and planning through 2028.

“For Sweden to become a leader in the next generation of therapies and medical technologies, we need to create better conditions for research, innovation and collaboration. The programme will help translate more research findings into solutions that improve people’s health and strengthen Sweden’s competitiveness,” says Karin Stenström, who is responsible for the programme at Vinnova.
