Romanian Health Ministry and pharmaceutical industry agree on measures to ensure continuity of treatment for patients

PublishedNovember 1, 2026

Romania’s Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, met with representatives of the Romanian Association of International Medicines Producers (ARPIM) and the Association of Generic Medicines Producers of Romania (APMGR) to discuss urgent measures to prevent disruptions in the supply of medicines to hospitals.

Following the meeting, the authorities and industry representatives agreed on the first concrete measures to protect patients and optimise medicine stocks:

  • Weekly reporting of medicine consumption and stock levels under national health programmes.
  • Strict monitoring of critical supply points, with a particular focus on cancer treatments, cardiovascular medicines and treatments for rare diseases.
  • Increasing national stocks of critical medicines to enable rapid intervention and efficient redistribution between hospitals.

“Patients should not have to run from one hospital to another to find their medicines. The Romanian state has a responsibility to protect patients, not to pass the consequences of financial imbalances on to them,” said Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete.

The Ministry of Health will continue working closely with manufacturers and distributors to ensure that patients have uninterrupted access to the treatments they need.
