The National Institute of Research and Innovation (NIRI), Riga Technical University (RTU) and the University of Latvia (LU) have signed a national agreement establishing the EU-OPENSCREEN_LV network.
The agreement brings together the three institutions as partners in the Latvian node of EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC — the European research infrastructure supporting chemical biology and early-stage drug discovery.
The collaboration is intended to strengthen Latvia’s participation in European research infrastructure initiatives and expand opportunities for researchers to access specialised infrastructure and expertise.
As the national coordinator of EU-OPENSCREEN_LV, NIRI will facilitate cooperation between the Latvian partners and the EU-OPENSCREEN headquarters in Berlin, coordinate information exchange and support the development of the national network.
The partners will contribute expertise and research infrastructure across a range of areas relevant to early-stage drug discovery, including medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, biological activity testing, analytical chemistry, structural biology and in-silico research.
The agreement also provides a framework for joint research projects, scientific seminars and practical training, the development of research infrastructure in Latvia, and attracting new users to the EU-OPENSCREEN network.
The agreement creates a common framework for NIRI, RTU and LU to connect their expertise and infrastructure with a wider European research network — supporting collaboration and access to research capabilities in chemical biology and drug discovery.
