PublishedSeptember 30, 2026

Greek Deputy Minister of Health Marios Themistocleous attended the handover of 24 new libraries at the “Agia Sophia” General Children’s Hospital.

The handover was also attended by Hospital Governor Anastasios Michas, Humanity Greece Founder and President Georgia Paraschou, Katerina Katopi Lykiardopoulou, Dimitra Kolotoura, sister of Yannis Kolotouras, and hospital staff.

The initiative was carried out by humanitarian organisation Humanity Greece, following a donation from the family of Nikolaos and Katerina Lykiardopoulou in memory of Yannis Kolotouras, co-owner and General Manager of ZEUS+DIONE.

The donation provided 24 new libraries, which have been installed in the waiting areas of the hospital’s clinics. They have been stocked with more than 2,000 children’s books donated by Library4all and Humanity Greece, with titles selected for children of different ages.

The libraries are intended to provide children who are hospitalised or visiting the hospital with opportunities for relaxation and creative activity, helping to create a more welcoming and child-friendly environment.

Themistocleous said the initiative was particularly important in a children’s hospital, where patients and families can experience anxiety and uncertainty. He said the libraries would provide children with creative activities and support a more holistic approach to care, while thanking Humanity Greece and the Lykiardopoulou family for the donation.

Paraschou said the libraries would offer children moments of relaxation, creativity and optimism in a demanding medical environment, adding that initiatives that make children’s experience a little brighter are particularly meaningful to Humanity Greece.
