Check your blood pressure — know your numbers this World Heart Day

PublishedSeptember 13, 2026

On World Heart Day, Finns are encouraged to check their blood pressure and know their numbers. The campaign peaks on September 28-29 and continues throughout October, reaching audiences nationwide through social media, outdoor advertising, and the Finnish Heart Association’s channels.

During Screening Week, the Association’s member organizations and pharmacies host educational events, provide home blood pressure monitoring guides, and organize public self-monitoring opportunities.

World Heart Day is celebrated annually on September 29. The aim of the day is to raise awareness about heart health and encourage people to take action.

This year, the focus is on blood pressure. Spend the day wearing red and checking your blood pressure, the Finnish Heart Association encourages.

“High blood pressure is very common among Finns as they age. Although it may seem harmless when there are no symptoms, it should be treated in a timely manner to help prevent the serious health problems it can cause,” the association says.

That’s why it’s important to know your own numbers and measure your blood pressure regularly, the Finnish Heart Association emphasises.
