A new Regional Center for Cerebrovascular Pathology and Neurosurgery has been completed, following an investment of more than €50 million. Funded through European and national public funds, the center will strengthen access to advanced neurosurgical care and the treatment of complex cerebrovascular conditions in the region.
I am honored to be here, more than five years after the moment when I took the first step and promoted the legislative act to make this project a reality. In neurosurgery and cerebrovascular pathology, every minute counts. For a patient facing a neurological emergency, time can make the difference between recovery and disability. Sometimes, it can make the difference between life and death. That is why this is not just an investment in buildings, equipment, and infrastructure. It is an investment in people’s chance to be treated on time and according to the standards of modern medicine. The Regional Center for Cerebrovascular Pathology and Neurosurgery represents a major investment for Cluj, Transylvania, and the Romanian healthcare system. It is the infrastructure that highly specialized medicine needs and, above all, the infrastructure that patients deserve. It is also proof that projects funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) are being completed

The new center includes:
- 105 beds, including 79 for neurosurgery and 26 for intensive care.
- 6 operating rooms.
- A pediatric neurosurgery unit, allowing the treatment of a wide range of conditions, from newborns to adults.
- MRI, multi-slice CT, and angiography equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
- Dedicated spaces for medical imaging, sterilization, emergency care, outpatient consultations, and physiotherapy.
- An intensive care unit with two- and three-bed rooms, allowing critically ill patients to be continuously monitored and supervised.
The center also includes an amphitheater for the training of medical students and residents, providing a space for professional development and closer integration between clinical practice and medical education.
