Implementation of the National Alert Management System (NAMS)

PublishedSeptember 3, 2026

Romania has launched a new National Alert Management System (NAMS) to improve how medicine-related alerts are handled across pharmacies, wholesalers and hospitals.

Developed as part of the National Medicines Verification System (NMVS), the platform allows users to view alerts in real time, add comments, supporting documents and photos, and track each alert from notification to resolution.

The system also improves communication between end users, the Romanian Medicines Serialisation Organisation (OSMR) and the National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of Romania (NAMMDR).

Unlike the previous process, which relied largely on weekly reports, NAMS enables alerts to be managed and resolved on a daily basis, helping to speed up responses, improve coordination and strengthen patient safety.

This new system introduces a more efficient, transparent and structured way of managing alerts:
• Viewing the alerts in real time;
• Adding comments, supporting documents, or photos directly in the system;
• Applying the correct resolution for each alert;
• Viewing all alerts, including history and status update.
