Holifya has announced a €2 million funding round to build Italy’s first digital clinic focused on the pharmacological treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome with GLP-1 drugs.
The round is led by Next Age, the Silver Economy program of the National Network of CDP Venture Capital SGR Accelerators, with Growth Engine renewing its commitment, alongside Doorway, 20Fund, Zooga Venture, AC75 Startup Accelerator and a group of prominent business angels.
Growth Capital supported the transaction as exclusive advisor.
In Italy, 23 million adults live with overweight or obesity. Less than 1% of those who may be eligible for GLP-1 therapy currently use it.
The problem is not the availability of the drugs, but the lack of continuous care: without ongoing support, one in three patients drops out within the first month.
The Holifya pathway integrates up to 3,000 biomarkers per patient with clinical and behavioral data collected throughout the treatment journey.
AI predicts the risk of dropout and adverse events, suggests dosing and automates follow-up. Clinical decisions remain solely with the physician.
The results so far include more than 3,000 patients treated, 17% weight loss at six months compared with 7.1% with the drug alone, adherence rates up to three times the market standard, and eligibility screening completed in less than 48 hours.
The capital raised will support the expansion of the AI and technology team, B2C growth, partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, clinics and insurers, and the expansion of Holifya’s clinical team. In 2025, Parliament recognized obesity as a chronic disease. However, the system of care required to address the condition does not yet exist.
