Antibiotice boosts international growth with US sales gains and new European market entry

PublishedSeptember 1, 2026

Antibiotice is accelerating its international expansion, with renewed sales growth in the US and entry into new European markets strengthening the Romanian drugmaker’s position abroad. The latest results underscore the company’s ability to compete in mature pharmaceutical markets and expand its international footprint.

Antibiotice is targeting 25% growth in exports to the US in 2026, as the American market regains momentum. The United States is one of Antibiotice’s strategic markets, currently accounting for around 15% of the company’s exports. At the end of May 2026, Antibiotice’s main US distributor successfully completed an audit of the company’s production facilities in Iași, reaffirming compliance with the high quality and regulatory standards required by the US market.

The company has a portfolio of eight sterile injectable anti-infective products in the US market, as well as the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) Nystatin, which is used in the manufacture of antifungal medicines. For more than a decade, Antibiotice has maintained its position as a global leader in Nystatin API production.

Antibiotice is also expanding its European footprint by entering the Spanish pharmaceutical market, one of the most competitive in the region. The Romanian drugmaker will launch three cardiovascular medicines in Spain through a major pharmaceutical retail partner under an initial three-year contract. The first shipment was delivered at the end of May, with total deliveries expected to reach around €5 million by the end of the agreement.

The contract allows volumes to increase in line with market demand, while the partner’s presence in more than 100 countries could create further opportunities for Antibiotice to expand into new international markets.
