More than 500 experts, leading physicians, directors of teaching hospitals, government representatives and international specialists will gather at the Hotel Ambassador Zlatá Husa in Prague on October 14, 2026.
The third annual AI Transformation of Healthcare conference, organised by the Czech Association for Artificial Intelligence (ČAUI) and its healthcare working group, will provide its most comprehensive look yet at the real-world use of AI in clinical practice, reimbursement mechanisms and the evolving legislative framework.
In recent years, artificial intelligence has largely remained a theoretical topic in Czech hospitals. In 2026, however, AI is beginning to play a practical role in addressing chronic staff shortages, accelerating diagnostics and automating routine tasks. This year’s conference reflects this fundamental shift: the move from isolated pilot projects towards the systematic implementation and sustainable financing of AI technologies across the healthcare system.
Connecting AI developers with frontline doctors
The conference programme will bring together leading figures from Czech medicine and healthcare management. Current challenges facing the sector will be discussed in a panel featuring the directors of major teaching hospitals: Associate Professor Ján Dudra (General University Hospital in Prague), Engineer Vlastimil Vajdák (St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno) and Dr Jiří Havrlant (University Hospital Ostrava).
Leading medical experts will also contribute to a moderated session, including Professors Roman Prymula and Jan Daneš, as well as Associate Professor David Zogala from the Czech Society for Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Digital Technologies in Medicine.
Frontline doctors are not interested in the technical details of AI models. They want to know whether AI will help them make diagnoses faster and more accurately, without adding unnecessary administrative work. Device certification is now a basic requirement, but we need to take the next step: connecting entire ecosystems, integrating AI tools effectively into everyday operations, and developing comprehensive hospital strategies, including the role of AI ambassadors. This year’s event will place particular emphasis on the impact of AI on mental health, including both its potential risks and its applications in therapy. The topic will be introduced by Jan Romportl of Elin.ai and educational psychologist Dr Josef Kundrát. Petra Stupková of the specialist law firm Legitas will address the legal framework and implications of the EU AI Act. International speakers will also share their experience of implementing AI in healthcare in other countries.
The conference is being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. The opening address and keynote speech will be delivered by the Minister of Health, Mgr. et Mgr. Adam Vojtěch, MHA.
Artificial intelligence represents a major opportunity for the Czech healthcare system to improve the availability and quality of care, shorten diagnostic times and ease the burden on overworked healthcare professionals. The ministry’s role is to create an environment that does not hinder innovation but, on the contrary, enables innovations to be integrated safely and effectively into the public healthcare system. While previous editions of the conference focused on technological possibilities and early case studies, the 2026 programme puts implementation, financing and regulatory governance at the forefront.
One of the key topics will be reimbursement mechanisms, with the participation of Ing. Mgr. Markéta Foldyna Hellová, MHA, Senior Director of the Health Technologies Section at the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, and Vlastimil Hrabal, Head of the ČAUI Reimbursement Subgroup.

Insurance coverage: the key to large-scale AI adoption
Experts identify sustainable financing as one of the biggest barriers to the wider adoption of AI algorithms in everyday healthcare. “Developing a cutting-edge AI algorithm is only half the battle. The second, and often more difficult, challenge is establishing a sustainable health-insurance reimbursement model. If we want hospitals to invest systematically in AI, they need to know how AI-supported care can be reported and reimbursed,” explains Vlastimil Hrabal, Head of the Reimbursement Subgroup of the ČAUI Healthcare Section and CEO of Kardi Ai.
Alongside the main programme, an exhibition of AI startups and technology companies will run throughout the day, giving participants an opportunity to see and experience the latest solutions first-hand.
The conference will also feature a dedicated space for open presentations. Experts can submit their projects for consideration until September 25, 2026.
