The Minister of Health Katya Ivkova held a working meeting with Martin Atanasov, creator of the “Diagnosis Bulgaria” platform, to discuss opportunities for developing digital tools aimed at protecting patients’ rights, increasing transparency and improving interaction between citizens and public institutions.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Petko Salchev and Vasilena Chiara, a medical student and representative of “Future in Bulgaria.”
During the meeting, the Minister congratulated Atanasov on developing the platform and on his active civic engagement, emphasizing that initiatives led by young people with a vision for social change deserve institutional support.
Transparency is the foundation of trust in the healthcare system. Through digitalisation, we can bring greater visibility to processes that have remained opaque for years, ensure more effective oversight and better protect patients’ rights. It is equally important that young people do not remain indifferent, but instead create solutions and stand up for their rights. This energy is key to bringing about real change in the sector, and the Ministry of Health will be a partner in such initiatives.

Minister Ivkova also noted that the Ministry of Health is already working on several projects aimed at the digital transformation of the healthcare sector.
The goal is to bring greater transparency to long-standing processes, strengthen oversight and increase public confidence in the healthcare system through modern technological solutions.
The meeting also explored the possibility of enhancing the “Diagnosis Bulgaria” platform by integrating official data, which would expand its functionality and increase its value for both patients and public institutions.
Prof. Petko Salchev expressed his readiness to provide expert support for the platform’s further development, with the aim of upgrading it and enabling its practical use by state institutions.
As a next step, the participants agreed to hold a joint working meeting with representatives of Information Services to explore opportunities for technological integration, data exchange and the platform’s future development.
