KI Innovation opens its doors to life science startups

Are you building a science-based company with the potential to improve health, healthcare or patients’ lives? Apply to Karolinska Institutet Innovation´s Incubator. Karolinska Institutet Innovation´s Incubator is designed for early-stage life science ventures ready to move from promising science to a scalable business.

Application closes September 8! Send your slide deck by September 8, 11:00 pm.

Applications are reviewed by Karolinska Institutet Innovation’s business team together with external experts. 

Assessment includes: 

  • Unique assets 
  • Business potential  
  • Team  
  • Execution  

Other eligibility criteria

  • Companies must be eligible to receive state aid according to EU-regulation (Article 22 – GBER, or de minimis) 
  • Companies must be 75% founders owned  
  • No recurring sales  

Applicants must provide a non-confidential slide deck of 15-20 slides that include:  

  • Company snapshot 
  • The problem and unmet need you are addressing  
  • Your solution and what makes it unique 
  • The scientific or technical foundation behind the project (show data) 
  • Market, customers, competitors and positioning 
  • Intellectual property and other competitive advantages 
  • The team and its relevant expertise 
  • Current development status of product/solution 
  • Key activities and milestones for the next 12–24 months 
  • Funding needs and financing plan 
  • Why do you want to join the incubator, and how will it help you accelerate your company’s growth? 
  • What positive and negative social and environmental impacts might your proposed product, business concept and activities have? 

Please do not include confidential proprietary information in your application. 

Important dates:

  • Application closes September 8, 11:00 pm
  • Info to SMEs (first cut) approx. October 6
  • Interviews for remaining SMEs October 14–15 (30 min/SME)
  • Info to SMEs (second cut) approx. October 16
  • Business Review meeting for remaining SMEs November 9-27 (3h/SME)
  • Info to SMEs (Acceptance to KI Incubator) approx. November 28
  • Agreements signed latest December 17, 2026
  • Boot Camp January 23-24, 2027 (Overnight stay at Vår Gård)
