Penteli Children’s General Hospital in Athens has completed a €4.5 million modernisation programme, upgrading its surgical, clinical and support facilities.
The project included the full modernisation of four operating theatres, new medical technology and upgraded sterilisation facilities.
The hospital’s Orthopaedic and ENT clinics, Surgical Clinic, laboratories and outpatient departments were also refurbished.
New patient-care equipment, including specialised paediatric beds and medication management systems, was introduced alongside improvements to fire safety, accessibility and common areas.
The hospital grounds were also upgraded with new landscaping, parking and a children’s playground.
The programme was funded by the Kaizen Foundation in cooperation with the hospital administration and national health authorities. The upgraded facilities have now been returned to Greece’s National Health System (ESY).
The project was formally completed at a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, Deputy Health Minister Marios Themistocleous, hospital administrators and medical staff.
The modernisation is intended to provide a more up-to-date clinical environment for paediatric care while improving facilities for healthcare professionals, children and their families.
