“Digital Health Austria – Innovations for the Healthcare System of Tomorrow” has been officially launched.
A total of EUR 10 million is available through FFG funding programmes. In addition, the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft (LBG) and Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) provide comprehensive accompanying and a training- and capacity building programme for interested applicants.
With the Digital Health Austria initiative, the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft (LBG), together with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws), is setting new standards for innovation in the Austrian healthcare sector. The initiative aims to support projects that combine digital technologies with tangible benefits for patients, healthcare services and society.
Two Funding Tracks
Digital Health Austria comprises two funding schemes as well as complementary support measures for networking, project development and capacity building. Funding is available for:
• Flagship Projects
• Cooperative Projects (including Ideas Labs)
The initiative focuses on inter- and transdisciplinary projects that improve healthcare from the perspective of patients and affected communities. Examples include reducing the gender health gap and improving equitable access to healthcare in underserved regions.
A key principle is the early involvement of patients, citizens and other stakeholders, combined with collaboration across disciplines and sectors, to jointly develop sustainable and systemic improvements for the healthcare system.
Accompanying Support Programme
A core element of Digital Health Austria is its accompanying training and capacity building programme, jointly delivered by the LBG Open Innovation in Science (OIS) Center and aws. The programme helps applicants further develop project ideas, identify suitable partners and strengthen the quality of their proposals.
Support measures range from webinars on topics such as Open Innovation, impact, intellectual property protection and pathways to implementation to facilitated networking events that foster exchange, co-creation and the formation of new project consortia.
The first support activities have already started.
Further information on Digital Health Austria is available on the websites of the FFG and the LBG OIS Center.
Through the Digital Health Austria initiative, aws, FFG and LBG support innovative projects that strengthen Austria’s healthcare system and promote modern, patient-centred healthcare.
The initiative focuses on digital solutions, equitable access to healthcare taking gender-specific differences into account, strengthening structurally disadvantaged regions, and delivering sustainable improvements to the healthcare system.
The initiative comprises two calls for proposals, complemented by additional measures to facilitate networking, project development and project support.
Funding is available for:
- Flagship Projects
- Collaborative R&D Projects (including Ideas Labs).
In addition to the two calls for proposals and the Ideas Labs, there are supporting measures designed to assist applicants and funded project teams.
