Cornea Sense, an Aalto University spinout developing next-generation ophthalmic diagnostic technology, has completed a €1.1M+ pre-seed financing round.
The round combines private investment from Innovestor Angel CoFund and a group of experienced angel investors, including Matts Linder, eye surgeon, and Patrick Aisher, Chairman of Kinled Holding and Danube BioVentures, alongside support from a Business Finland R&D grant.
The funding will enable Cornea Sense to advance its technology from academic research toward a human-compatible research prototype, while de-risking key technical and clinical development milestones.
The company will use the funding to generate the data, expertise, and validation required to progress toward a globally scalable ophthalmic diagnostic product.
The company aims to establish ocular hydration as a new standard in preventive healthcare, unlocking earlier diagnosis for billions of people worldwide.
Backed by over a decade of scientific research and targeting a €40B global market, Cornea Sense aims to become the frontline tool for detecting systemic and ocular diseases before complications arise.
