SIM4FLOW is proud to announce a major milestone in its journey to transform intracranial aneurysm management through artificial intelligence: the company has been selected for nearly €0.5 million in funding under the highly competitive European Innovation Council (EIC) Pre-Accelerator programme.
The EIC Pre-Accelerator is a European programme designed to support high-potential early-stage deep-tech companies in Horizon Europe widening countries by advancing their technology, strengthening business and investment readiness, and preparing them for future scale-up. The 2025 call supported selected companies with grants of up to €500,000.
For SIM4FLOW, this achievement represents a significant step forward for IRIS — the Intracranial Rupture Intelligence System — and follows the company’s successful development of its technology through earlier research and innovation funding.
The EIC achievement builds on SIM4FLOW’s earlier success in securing €120,000 from the competitive Pre-Seed (0823) call of the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF).
The RIF funding provided an important foundation for the development of IRIS, supporting the company’s team, technology development and transition from research innovation toward a scalable AI-powered healthcare solution.
The successful EIC Pre-Accelerator application now marks the next major stage in this development journey.
With the support of the EIC, SIM4FLOW will focus on advancing IRIS toward higher technological and clinical maturity, strengthening its validation and user evidence, and preparing the company for future investment and international commercialisation.
IRIS is SIM4FLOW’s cloud-based AI platform for personalised assessment of intracranial aneurysm rupture risk.
The platform combines medical imaging, computational haemodynamics, machine learning and explainable AI to transform complex patient-specific information into interpretable insights that can support clinicians in the assessment and management of intracranial aneurysms.
Through the EIC-supported programme, SIM4FLOW will advance IRIS across several critical areas:
- Technology development and validation — further advancing the AI, computational and software components of IRIS.
- Physics-informed AI — incorporating advanced approaches that combine data-driven learning with physical knowledge of cardiovascular flow.
- Clinical evaluation and user validation — evaluating the platform with clinical users and generating evidence for its usability and potential clinical value.
- Explainable and trustworthy AI — strengthening the transparency and interpretability of AI-generated risk assessments.
- Platform maturity — progressing IRIS toward a robust, scalable and clinically oriented software platform.
- Business and investment readiness — strengthening SIM4FLOW’s commercial strategy and positioning the company for future private investment and follow-on European funding.
Being selected for the EIC Pre-Accelerator is an important recognition of the innovation and potential of SIM4FLOW’s technology.
The programme is specifically designed to help promising European deep-tech companies move from technology validation toward greater technological, business and investment readiness, with a pathway toward future EIC Accelerator funding and other sources of scale-up investment.
