Single-cell biology is entering a new phase, and Atrandi’s team is growing bolder

PublishedAugust 4, 2026

As Atrandi’s Semi-Permeable Capsule technology moves from early scientific promise towards broader adoption, the company is opening up new possibilities for complex, multi-step single-cell and multiomic workflows that traditional approaches were not designed to support.

To help drive this next phase of growth, Atrandi welcomes Sam Ropp as Chief Commercial Officer and Susan Tousi as Chair of the Board of Directors.

According to Atrandi, Sam brings more than two decades of experience scaling life science technology platforms and building global commercial organizations, including work helping bring widely adopted single-cell technologies from early adoption to broader market expansion. Susan brings more than 30 years of leadership across genomics, diagnostics, imaging, and biotechnology, including senior leadership roles at Illumina and her role as CEO of Delfi Diagnostics.

Atrandi Biosciences has received the Bold Move award at the Vilnius TechFusion Awards 2025.

The team says their bold move was never just a slogan—it was a choice: to develop Semi-Permeable Capsules (SPCs), a fundamentally different approach to enabling scalable, multi-step single-cell workflows.

Atrandi Biosciences, founded in 2016, is a pioneering life sciences tool company transforming single-cell analysis with its patented Semi-Permeable Capsule (SPC) technology.

This next-generation technology isolates tens of thousands of single cells within discrete, permeable compartments, allowing bulk reactions to proceed as usual while preserving single-cell resolution.

SPCs have already unlocked previously inaccessible applications, such as high-throughput microbial and eukaryotic genomics, and are poised to enable true single-cell multiomics.

Headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania, Atrandi’s name, meaning “you discover” in Lithuanian, embodies the company’s mission to empower scientists to uncover the unknown and make groundbreaking discoveries.
