Lithuania has launched a new project aimed at strengthening the country’s international engagement in research and innovation — including in the field of health — by ensuring the continued operation of its National Contact Points (NCP) network under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, the Research Council of Lithuania informs.
The project, titled “Continuation of the Horizon Europe NCP Network” (No. 10-087-P-0001), will run from 2026 to 2029 and is designed to help Lithuania’s scientific and business communities participate more actively in international research and innovation projects, expand their access to funding opportunities and foster the development of high-level research and development (R&D) results.
A team of 11 National Contact Points will work within the project, providing information on Horizon Europe calls for proposals, assisting organisations and researchers with the preparation of applications, helping them find international partners and offering expert support across a broad range of programme areas.
The areas covered include health, climate, digital technologies, innovation, culture, security, as well as initiatives aimed at strengthening the European Research Area.
According to the project organisers, stronger international partnerships, greater opportunities for Lithuanian researchers and innovators, and a more active role for Lithuania in the European research and innovation ecosystem are key investments in the country’s long-term competitiveness.
The project is financed through the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania. A total of €2,192,981.86 has been allocated for its implementation.
